We talked to Tamika Rose, CEO & Founder, Girls In Ballet School

First of all, please tell our readers about you – what is the company all about?

After many years of survival and self-reflection, I realized that my purpose in life is to bring beauty into the world. I came up with a crazy idea, to start a fashion company. Girls In Ballet School, a company that sells the perfect staple to any woman’s wardrobe, bodysuits.

I watched my daughter study ballet since she was 4 years old, and I grew to love the poise, discipline and freedom ballet dancers possessed, hence the name of my bodysuit line. Every creation, every collection, is designed with women in mind, they ALL are my inspiration. Women come in many different aspects, as do my designs, no two women or my bodysuits are alike, Girls In Ballet School is a representation of all women. 

What were the 3 keys to getting the company off the ground – where did you invest your time?

The most important key to getting my business off the ground is my purpose in life. The second key is vision. The third key is work ethic. I invest my time in all three, my purpose in life is to bring beauty into the world with my fashion line and story. My vision is to create a world where women are elevated, celebrated and compensated for all that they contribute to society as a whole. Lastly my work ethic brings everything together, whatever that needs to be done, will be done, I have been a mom since I was 14 years old so I know a thing or two about hard work, of course I can run a fashion company!

Just having participated in the Amplify Your Brand Workshop with Sabina Hitchen and Janine Just, what role do live events play in your branding and marketing initiatives?

Live events, especially the Amplify Your Brand Workshop helps me gain more clarity on my business. It helped me get comfortable with public speaking and helped me gain knowledge on how to connect with people. This workshop forced me to interact with other entrepreneurs and brainstorm on new ideas. Because I am my brand, I learned how to verbally represent myself in front of people who can help me catapult myself into where I want to be.

What was a successful social media campaign you hosted that showed great engagement and traction?

I launched Facebook ads for my business page and gained 503 friends, although it didn’t turn into sales, I know it successfully got my brands message out into the world.

Finally, what is your favorite app? 

UBER!!! For Sure! Because I AM BOOKED honey!
