Event Tech of the Week: @DoubleDutch

I love, love, love all things events and technology. If you can’t tell by my tweets, Facebook posts and all my other social media interactions, I love to talk about events and the tools that help us do what we do better. In June 2011, I partnered with an organization called imbookin to bring you PlannerTech – an event technology showcase. This weekly blog series is going to help continue to expose you to new tools you need to be aware of as an event planner. Also, in case you missed it, PlannerTech could be coming soon to your area!

Today, we’re talking about DoubleDutch

DoubleDutchYour name:  Lawrence Coburn
Company:  DoubleDutch
Tool Name: DoubleDutch Events
Website:  http://doubledutch.me/
Twitter:  https://twitter.com/doubledutch
Facebook:  www.facebook.com/playdoubledutch

What is the “problem” that your tool seeks to solve?
DoubleDutch is embracing mobile and social to transform the event landscape. DoubleDutch Events is not only a digital event guide, but is also an interactive mobile experience designed to engage attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, and organizers alike.

DoubleDutch Events gives attendees access to up-to-date information and enhanced networking opportunities. It also provides sponsors and exhibitors a more measurable way to engage with prospects and customers during the event. Lastly, it provides event organizers real-time insight into attendee behavior and additional sponsorship opportunities

What is the best audience for this tool? Corporate events? Social? Other? Large? Small?
DoubleDutch Events is a great tool for events of all sizes; from smaller internal corporate meetings and sales kick-offs to large customer-facing conferences and tradeshows.

What does your tool help event planners do better?
We help event planners increase sponsorship opportunities and plan smarter events by gathering real-time event insight from the app. Planners can also engage with attendees in a new and natural way before, during, and after the event.

How is your tool different from/better than the competition?
DoubleDutch is the only mobile event app vendor that has integrated well-known social gestures into mobile event technology.  Within the DoubleDutch Events app are activities similar to “likes” on Facebook , “check-ins” on Foursquare, and “followers” on Twitter. This results in sky-high engagement and a central hub for all social activity, unlike any competitor.

By creating a truly dynamic social feed that keeps attendees engaged and coming back to the app for more, event organizers are able to gather large amounts of data. DoubleDutch is the only vendor that can surface leads to organizers and exhibitors based on this attendee behavior data. The social features are good crowd pleasers, and also produce actionable insights and demonstrate ROI.

What is the single coolest feature of your product?
The activity feed is the real source of magic in our event app. Attendees can check-in to sessions and exhibitors, comment, like and share photos in a simple and intuitive way. DoubleDutch events creates an interest-based social network around your brand. Best of all, all of these actions are measurable,  whichs helps event organizers plan smarter events in the future!

Anything else we need to know?
Hundreds of clients, including Cisco, Dell, 3M, Nationwide, Masco, and Wells Fargo, are using DoubleDutch to power their events across the globe. Over 200,000 users have used the advanced DoubleDutch technology platform to transform their event experience.

Mobile app for social engagement or should I say social app for mobile event management? Whatever it may be, I am concerned on its performance. I know you have explained everything in this post, but can I tell you a secret? I am planning to use this app to learn more about it.
