Most event professionals are aware that they should be on LinkedIn and they should have a company profile…but how else do you use it?
1. LinkedIn Answers – the questions and answers of linked in is a hub of knowledge and advice. There’s even an entire section in answers titled “conferences and event planning.” Post questions there and look for questions to answer. When it’s applicable (and not pushy) talk about your business and your blog. By answering questions, you look like you know what you’re talking about and you can drive traffic to your website, blog and hopefully get some new business! If you answer questions well, others can indicate that you’re an expert, which gives you more credibility.
2. LinkedIn Groups- Join relevant groups. Groups related to the event industry and that are related to you are best. For example, if there is an event professionals group dedicated to the city you live in, that would be ideal. If there isn’t—create one! By creating a group, you can monitor discussions and keep the salesy annoying posters out of it.
3. LinkedIn Today – LinkedIn today gives you news that is relevant to you and your industry. Use this to inspire blog content and group discussions. Post the articles in your group or groups that you are involved in to spark conversation.
Any business needs to be communication to prospects, clients and others in the industry on a regular basis. By being as social as you can on LinkedIn you can attain more leads, position yourself as an industry expert and possibly learn some things too!
