
Once in a while you meet someone and you think to yourself “This guy/gal is going to make it BIG”. That’s exactly what I thought the first time I met Josh Norris – magician and event professional extraordinaire. Josh is the mastermind behind DC event professionals group – Metro Event Specialists. This group meets on a regular basis and brings together 300+ event professionals from throughout the DC area for networking and learning about new vendors. His meetup is wildly popular and it’s only an expression of how wildly popular Josh is in his “other” life as well. We’re also a fan of his because of the superstar job he did of emceeing our PlannerTech DC event last December. Set to debut in August, Josh has his next big break launching a new magic show “Think: An Evening of Mind Reading and Magic”. If you are anywhere near the area, I suggest you check it out. I know I’ll be looking to buy tickets myself and travel down from NY. In case you were wondering, Josh absolutely can be hired for meetings and events. Friday Night Magic Shows Feature 90-Minute Performance and Pre-Show Specials at Helix Lounge This August
WHAT: Kimpton’s Hotel Helix is pleased to announce a new Friday night magic show series THINK: An Evening of Mind Reading and Magic featuring Josh Norris, the magician named “D.C.’s Best Performing Artist” by readers of the Washington City Paper.
THINK: An Evening of Mind Reading and Magic is a 90-minute show in which magician Josh Norris combines magic, psychology, hypnosis and suggestion to demonstrate the untapped powers of the mind. Amongst the show’s highlights, Norris will employ his uncanny understanding of body language to decode the thoughts of audience members, assume the role of a human lie detector, and subject himself to extreme physical harm in a feat of mind over body
WHEN: The show will run for four weeks on Friday nights beginning on August 10, 2012.
- Dates include: Fridays, August 10, 17, 24, and 31, 2012.
- Performances begin at 8:00 p.m.
- All guests can arrive early to enjoy extended Happy Hour specials at Helix Lounge, and a close-up magic in the lounge from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
SPECIALS: Washingtonians can make a night of it by arriving early at Helix Lounge, where ticket-holders receive Happy Hour specials until 8:00 p.m., as well as discounted $4 Magic Hat beers or an $8 “Magic Martini” featuring Tanquery gin, peach liqueur, orange juice, grenadine and a champagne float. A complimentary champagne toast will be provided to guests during the show.
WHO: Josh Norris is a magician living in Washington, D.C. In addition to his studies as a magician, Norris relies heavily on his skills at reading body language, which he has honed over the course of 2000 live shows. His performances have been featured everywhere from charitable events to the offices of top national corporations. Norris recently hosted a travel show for MSN called Re:Discover, where he gave viewers a tour of some hidden gems of Washington and just completed filming a reality show with a national network that will air in late fall.
