Today Social Tables, Inc. is announcing the launch of Social Tables 2.0, the company’s second generation event planning software platform, built specifically for weddings, galas, corporate events, and meetings. The new version is a complete overhaul of the company’s first generation product, which was released last summer. To date, Social Tables has been used to add over 100,000 guests across nearly 3,500 events.

The launch comes on the heels of the DC-based startup closing a seed funding round of $500,000 led by Fortify Ventures (Jonathon Perrelli, Founding Partner) and including notable DC angel investors including Ed Barrientos, Glen Hellman, James Hunt, amongst others. Due to high demand, the round, which closed one month ago, was oversubscribed.
Social Tables was one of 14 early stage startups selected to join Fortify Ventures’s inaugural class at The Fort, the first DC-based accelerator focused on early stage startups.
The new Social Tables has been in development for months. “We’ve built software for anyone: from the DIY bride to the corporate event planner,” said Berger. ”This wasn’t about making just another app,” added Lead Designer Brian Pensinger. ”Events are beautiful and unique. The software used to plan them should be beautiful as well.”
Since its initial launch, Social Tables has seen steady, organic month-over-month growth. ”Our software is naturally viral,” said Julia Damon, the company’s Ambassador to its growing user community. “Anyone planning an event pays attention to the very last detail and they want to show it off to the world.”
User feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. ”I wish I had to plan more events because it’s awesome software,” said Danica Newon, a bride featured on David Tutera’s My Fair Wedding, in a post about Social Tables on her blog. “The simplicity of it is the best part of it.”
“The events industry uses the latest trends to produce spectacular experiences but when it comes to technology there is room for improvement,” said Founder and CEO Dan Berger.
“The current version lays a foundation for collaboration and communication during the planning process but we’re not stopping there,” continued Berger. ”We’re baking in deep social integration to truly change the way events are attended as well.”
Industry leaders have noticed the potential of Social Tables and have thrown their support behind the young startup. Its Board of Advisors includes Gary Vaynerchuck, Owner of The Wine Library and author of The New York Times bestseller The Thank You Economy, Marcy Blum, the world-renowned celebrity event planner and author of Wedding Planning for Dummies, John Bracken, Co-Founder of Evite, and Wendy Drake, President of the critically acclaimed event planning and production company, The Webster Group.
“I tell all of my brides to use Social Tables because of its beauty and simplicity,” said Blum.
