2 Functions @HootSuite Is Missing From Their New Publisher Tool

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: HootSuite recently launched a new tool called the Smart Publishing tool. It’s a way to manage multiple scheduled tweets and status updates from one view. As many of you know, I’m a huge fan of Hootsuite and what it does for small businesses trying to be responsible about their social networking usage. However, I feel there is always room for improvement when they release something new. Here, you can see my Beef with HootSuite Freemium – a change they made a few months ago. As is typical with product upgrades, there are a few things that the new release of the Publisher tool missed.

1. Click to Enter New Event
While you can drag and drop scheduled messages, you cannot click on the calendar view and add your message. If HootSuite used a similar format as Google calendar, it would save you several clicks in the scheduling process. Instead of entering date and time, you could just click on the date and time and add your message.

2. Copy
While a feature like this could be overused, it would be nice to copy and paste a scheduled status message to another date and time. This way, if you are running a campaign, it will save you the time of re-entering the text. Of course, I would suggest that you still edit the text to vary, but it would save yet another step in the process.
