Surprisingly, I have taken an interest in the new OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) channel on TV. I’ve never been a fan of Oprah (all that SCREAMING!! and self promotion), but there are a few shows on her new channel that seem to be very promising. One that I’m most excited about is “Our America” with Lisa Ling. It’s what I always wished the news would be – a deeper look at some of the issues most effecting America instead of quick snapshots of all the sad stories that consume the 6:00 news.
But I digress.
The other night, I was watching “Master Class” with Jay-Z. I really love Jay-Z. He’s very talented and has provided consistent quality. I had a feeling his “retirement” wouldn’t last since I feel he lives and breathes music and I really respect that about him. One of the things he shared on the show was that excellence is performing at a high level for a long period of time.
That really struck me. If you’re successful for a year or two, you’re lucky. Or, as he puts it, “you’re hot.” It doesn’t mean much if you can’t continue that trend year after year.
As Liz King Events enters year two of existence, it’s time for taking the test of excellence. In year one, we achieved more than we expected. We had some amazing experiences and had the opportunity to plan some very interesting events. However, as we enter year two, the question remains.
Can we do it again? What can we do to ensure that we ace our 2nd year, and 3rd, and 10th? I’m excited to say that I think we will break all the barriers to mediocrity and rise above in the coming years. How?
Consistency. True Care for Clients. Striving for Perfection. Collaboration.
What are you doing to ensure that you are truly excellent?
