On Tuesday night, I was able to lead a very exciting chat as #eventprofs got together and shared their success for 2010 and set goals for 2011. The goals of this chat were:
- Celebrate the successes of our community
- Discuss how the community has contributed to our individual successes
- Set goals for 2011 (personal and business)
- Identify areas where we will need community support and resources
I think the chat was able to identify most of these items and it was a really uplifting and encouraging chat. I’ve summarized the transcript below, but first I’d like to invite YOU to participate.

One of the ideas that I will definitely take the lead on organizing is a small business accountability group where we can set goals and help one another achieve them. If you are interested in joining, please let me know via the comments below.

ASegar: Q1: Biggest accomplishment-helping to make EventCamp East Coast happen. #eventprofs
brandtkrueger: Q1: Had a 10 hour, 20 speaker company rebranding event, each with their own slide decks. My crew did a fantastic job- so proud! #eventprofs
ASegar: Q1: Proud of my work on educating event professionals and associations about participant-driven events. #eventprofs
streampoint: #eventprofs – most proud of moment for 2010.Registering 20,000 attendees with minimal lines. Reducing lines from a 5 hr wait time to 15 mins

eventsforgood: I am not just proud, I am also thankful. So many other #eventprofs have really helped me shape my business this year.

ClimberJim: I got much great feedback & follows from my “Twitters from Tibet” when I climbed there last year. #eventprofs

eventsforgood: Let’s just say that the resources I’ve found here in #eventprofs has driven all of my current success. I can’t imagine having work w/o it.

What are your goals for 2011 and what do you need from the community to be successful?
lizkingevents: Q3 is hard. Ready? What is your biggest goal for 2011?? #eventprofs
ClimberJim: 2011 goal= an integrated, multi-channel outreach to share lessons in the TV show & book that I have coming out #eventprofs
brandtkrueger: Q3: Is hard, yes. I’m planning on making SM a real part of my workday, as necessary as lunch. [cont] #eventprofs
susanlynncope: Q3: Blogging on a regular basis and being more involved with #eventprofs
eventsforgood: Q3: Biggest goal – becoming a consistent blogger. Having more successful (and profitable) partnerships with #eventprofs. Launch coming soon!
susanlynncope: Also for 2011 finish the task of bring an ISES chapter to Buffalo #eventprofs
brandtkrueger: I feel I’ve only scratched the surface, already learned so much, already met so many… what would doubling my efforts do??!! #eventprofs
MichaelMcCurry: Q3: My biggest goal for 2011 is to continue making the industry better by helping 2 drive innovation and diverse thought #eventprofs
lizkingevents: I’ll say it – one of my goals is monetization. Turning interests and skills into profit. #eventprofs
