Thanksgiving: From the Heart of Liz King

In January of this year, I came into the office and chatted with my friend and mentor, Malla Haridat. “This is going to be a good year. We have to make it happen. 2010. That’s our mantra. It’s got to be 2010″. Little did I know that with a little determination and a lot of mistakes later, 2010 would indeed be a good year.

I’m a pretty reflective person by nature so I start looking back at the year around Thanksgiving every time. Then I spend the next month reflecting and goal setting for the upcoming year. As I look back at 2010, I’m simply amazed. For those of you who don’t know, Liz King Events officially became a company in February of 2010 and I have countless friends and colleagues to thank for their support. I set out this year with the goal of doing 20 pro bono events to gain more experience as an independent planner. Yet, I’m ending this year having done way more events for some of the best clients around.

There are so many people that I am thankful for this year and I really don’t know where to start. So, what I have decided to do is to start a new series! Rather than waiting for this time of year, I hope to celebrate Thankful Thursdays all year long (first installment tomorrow!) I hope you enjoy and will add your thoughts each week as well. We’ll celebrate Thanksgiving all year long!!
