The craziest thing was producing the opening of the Fairview Container Terminal at the Port of Prince Rupert. There were about a zillion challenges to have a VIP ceremony for 600 in the afternoon followed by a festival for 4,000 (1/3 of the town’s residents) in the evening, but we seemed to be overcoming them – no usable water, power, sewer, all solved. One plane of 50 in each morning, with 500 who needed to get there anticipated, and 74 hotel rooms available… solved. First of three set up days, four train containers full of tents, tables, chairs, fencing, and the area where we are to set most of them up – they are still paving! In the end, it all worked out and was a fantastic and memorable event – we all know we stay in this industry for the times we succeed through the biggest hurdles – this still remains my favorite, as the team spirit we created was incredibly high, and everyone worked like dogs and laughed all the way through five days – even picking up garbage on the move out day in our safety vests and hard hats – laughing. Bring it on!

What a great story, Tahira! You are absolutely right – there is so much good that can come from even the hardest times. Thanks for sharing your story and getting the ball rolling and kudos to you for a successful (yet crazy) event! :)
