The #eventprofs group on Twitter has continued to grow at such an amazing rate that I’ve recently been looking for more and more ways to connect and meet our fellow event professionals. One idea that I’ve had is to feature some of the new #eventprofs in our Twitter community in a way that will you give you a snapshot of who they are. Hopefully, you can take a look at their profile and make an effort to connect with them! Are you a new #eventprof? Contact Us to see if a feature is the right opportunity for you!
So, today, meet our first featured #eventprofs:
Alison Ray
Alison Ray is the Owner of Metropolitan Meeting & Event Group and Executive Director for International Network of Travel Directors. In 2008 she launched INTD to help planners connect directly with freelance travel professionals and to be an advocate and provide a voice for the freelancers in our industry. Alison has been a meeting, event and incentive planner for over a decade and can’t think of anything else she’d rather do professionally. After 10 years, Alison was ready to give back to an industry that had given so much to her.
Q1: How did you find the #eventprofs group?
I found #eventprofs by following fellow INTD members and industry partners. I just began using Twitter occasionally late last year @intdonline. This past January I began contributing more frequently and connecting with other meeting, event and travel professionals. It has truly been a rewarding experience.
Q2: What have you learned so far from the #eventprofs?
Just today I found #eventprofs chat hosted by @ready2spark and signed up to be a moderator. I think this is a great opportunity to obtain education and connect with others without leaving the office. I see the future of live twitter chats providing CEUs! @lyksumlikrish was one of the first #eventprofs I began following after she tweeted about @intdonline. I had never met her before and was so grateful she was tweeting about us! @spelletier is another #eventprof that I followed from the beginning which started with her blog on Meetingsnet.com. She is great and always has useful and insightful tweets.
Q3: What do you think you have to offer other #eventprofs?
My goal is to become a valuable resource and provide access to new and exciting information.
Q4: What can you teach other #eventprofs?
I have spent the last few years advocating on behalf of freelance travel professionals and educating planners on the importance of hiring freelancers to help manage their meetings, events and incentive programs. There are many #eventprofs who have never worked with freelancers and have no idea how they could take their business to the next level by partnering with experienced and professional logistics staff.
Q5: Who would you enjoy connecting with?
Like most planners, my ultimate career goal is to someday connect with @JoanEisenstodt and @lorettlowe. The current #eventprofs I would most like to connect with are @corbinball, @lyksumlikrish and of @lizkingevents!
